Crystal Kovacs | H2O Audio Ambassador

As a cyclist, I have always been drawn to challenging myself and pushing my limits, which is why I decided to take on the Unbound Gravel event again this year. I knew that I would be involved in the expo area for the two days before the event, leading group rides, and staying involved with other brands. In other words I would be busy, and tired. I also knew that in order to successfully complete this race, I needed to have a solid training plan in place, and one key component of my training was the use of H20 Audio headphones.

What inspired you to pursue your sport?

The Gravel Family is so inclusive that it is the perfect place to find adventure, healthy lifestyles and competition (if you want that).

What are your Go Beyond achievements and milestones in your sporting career?

Winning Unbound this year in the E-Bike Category. I also placed second in my age group at SBT GRVL. I am on the Shimano Gravel Alliance and have now started my own gravel team.

Why did you choose to work with H2O Audio?

I love the team at H20 Audio! I also truly enjoy the fact that the MP3 player allows me to leave my phone at home during training and still enjoy music.

How has H2O Audio enhanced your training and performance?

The headphones allow me to go to my own space when I’m training. I have a playlist that I listen to and know that it will keep me moving.

What is your favorite music or playlist to listen to during workouts, and what type of workout do you use it for?

I have an apple playlist with songs that have a tempo higher than 100 bpm. It keeps the pedals turning. I love old rock and roll!

Can you share a memorable moment or story from your training where using H2O Audio waterproof headphones made a significant difference?

The last twenty miles of Unbound were tough for me. I had never ridden that fast before or been in a paceline that long. Knowing when I hit the play button on my headphones would give me a boost was such a mental break. I hit play and we were hammer down again! Thank you H20 Audio!

How do H2O Audio waterproof headphones help you stay motivated during tough training sessions or competitions?

Knowing that they work no matter where I am…cell service or not I will have music when I touch play. Also knowing that rain and sweat will not bother them is a comfort.

What advice do you have for aspiring athletes?

Go do it…..Just go enjoy what you are doing. One distance will lead to the next. Look around you at inspiring athletes…there are so many of them out there!
