Get to Know Katie

What inspired you to pursue your sport?

I grew up watching The Ironman World Championships with my Dad on TV. I was always inspired by the grit and determination of the athletes competing and knew I somehow wanted to be involved one day, but at that time wasn't really sure how. I didn't actually pursue triathlon until I got to college where I joined my Universities club Triathlon team, but once I did I was hooked.

What are your Go Beyond achievements and milestones in your sporting Career?

Some of the milestones in my career involve qualifying for The Ironman Championships
for the first time, Winning overall female amateaur for the first time, and Qualifyong for my Pro Card.

Why did you choose to work with H2O Audio?

I chose to work with H2o audio because music is a HUGE part of my life. I listen to music when Im sad or when im happy, and definitely when I'm out there training. I've always wanted a way to listen to music while swimming so when I found out about the Tri Pro headphones I was super excited to check it out.

How has H2O Audio enhanced your training and performance?

H2o audio has allowed me to stay focused and engaged during super long swim sets.
Let's be honest sometimes staring at the black line of the pool day in and day out can get rather mundane, so now with the Tri Pro Multi- Sport headphones longer swim sets seem to go my quicker. I also use the headphones when I'm cycling outside. The open ear design allows me to be aware of upcoming cars so I can ride safe but also continue to jam out

What is your favorite music or playlist to listen to during workouts, and what type of workout do you use it for?

I listen to so many types of genres when I swim. Sometimes I'm in the mood for electronic beats and other days hardcore rap or rock. On Some occasions songs with chill vibes are good for stretching out the stroke and matching my stroke cadence to the music cadence.

Can you share a memorable moment or story from your training where using H2O Audio waterproof headphones made a significant difference?

When winter rolls around I often find it harder to motivate myself to get into the
pool. I do not like cold temperatures, but this past winter I found myself more
excited to swim because I was able to listen to music. The waterproof
headphones helped elevate my winter training.

How do H2O Audio waterproof headphones help you stay motivated during tough training sessions or competitions?

The ability to listen to music in the water has greatly improved my motivation in the pool, especially when my swim workouts call for the mundane but necessary long interval sets.

What advice do you have for aspiring athletes?

My advice for aspiring athletes is to take a chance and bet on yourself. Work hard but also give yourself grace. Never stop being a student of your sport and always be grateful for what your body allows you to do. Sport comes with its ups and downs but try your best to keep the joy! The joy and the fun is what will keep you coming back.
