What inspired you to pursue your sport?

I was a high level competitive gymnast until 9th grade and retired only to take up swimming. I was not very graceful in the water but my power from gymnastics resonated in my stroke. I soon had great coaches along the way to refine my technique and allow me to reach my potential. I started running in vet school between classes to reduce stress from studying and soon found I may actually be a pretty good runner. I picked up biking after I met my husband who was a cyclist for NC State. It was not until 2018 that I decided that over my years my 3 sports that I had picked up may actually put together a decent triathlon. Triathlon was also how I found my sports background again after having 2 kids.

What are your Go Beyond achievements and milestones in your sporting career?

My milestones in my triathlon career include 5th out of the water at the Kona World Championships, Qualifying for 5 world Championships, Ranking 2nd in the USA and 6th in the world in the Ironman combined rankings for 70.3 and 140.6. Ranking 1ST in the
USA and 4th in the world for Ironman 140.6 rankings, USAT All American, AWA Gold, Team USA, 3rd out of the water at Finland World Championships, Qualifying for my
Professional Triathlon License, Professional field Xterra Qualification to World
Championships in Italy.

Why did you choose to work with H2O Audio?

I chose to work with H2O Audio because along with sports, music is an integral part of my life. Music is a gateway for so many things from feelings, drive, determination and somuch more. When I came across H2O Audio I knew that they fit right into my every day life. It was a way to merge my passion for sport and music. Plus after all these years of swimming I finally had a method to listen to music under water.

How has H2O Audio enhanced your training and performance?

H2O Audio has allowed me to merge my love for sports and music into one. I can take it wherever I go whether it is running, biking or swimming. It allows me to make a custom playlist and run hands free or swim underwater.

What is your favorite music or playlist to listen to during workouts, and what type of workout do you use it for?

I love all types of music but when it comes to workouts it is rap, pop or workout music. I often find Eminem repeating on my list of jams during threshold sets. If it has a beat or if the song relays a message about strength and fighting and determination you will usually find it on my playlist. I reserve the coffee house jams for afternoon coffee.

Can you share a memorable moment or story from your training where using H2O Audio waterproof headphones made a significant difference?

I often swim outside during the summer months but during the winter I am back indoors and often find the hot YMCA pools not as exciting BUT the ability to listen to music has spiced up my indoor workouts ten fold.

How do H2O Audio waterproof headphones help you stay motivated during tough training sessions or competitions?

I have done a lot of speed and cadence work in the pool. Having H2O audio has helped me match my cadence preference with music. During my long trainer rides it has helped me pass the time being able to listen to my favorite songs and also answer calls from family or friends when I am on the trainer for 5 hours or more.

What advice do you have for aspiring athletes?

I have learned a lot through my years in sports. If I could give you one piece of advice it would be that Sports is a journey. We all start somewhere and from there we climb to reach our goals. There will be good days, bad days, successful races, not so successful races but in the end it is the journey and what we put into the sport that will allow us to get where we desire to be. Learn as much as you can along the way, everyone has something to offer to help you reach your goals and potential. Most of all, you are never
to old to pursue your dreams.
