Every April, the streets of Boston transform into something iconic. It’s not just the race. It’s the energy. The legacy. The knowing nods between runners who’ve earned their spot at the start line, and the crowds who line Boylston Street like it’s a national holiday.

Racing Boston is a celebration of grit. Qualifying for Boston means joining one of the most exclusive clubs in distance running. It’s a race where the finish line isn’t just about 26.2 — it’s about everything that came before.

Cheering at Boston is a sport of its own. From the Wellesley scream tunnel to the Newton Hills, the crowd carries runners over every mile. You don’t just spectate the Boston Marathon — you fuel it.

And if Boston is your goal for 2026, the journey starts now. That qualifying time won’t chase itself.


🎽 Racing Boston This Monday? Here Are Some Quick Tips:

  • Start slow. The downhill in the first 5 miles can trick you into going out too fast. Save your quads for the Newton Hills.

  • Wear what you know. No new gear, no untested fuel, and absolutely no brand-new headphones. (That’s why we make gear that stays put and holds a charge long past the finish line.)

  • Zone out when you need, zone in when it counts. The crowd is electric — but the last 10K is where focus wins. Dial in your playlist, keep your cadence, and go.


📣 Cheering on Runners? Here’s How to Be Elite Support:

  • Track your runner using the Boston Marathon app — it updates in real time.

  • Bring signs they’ll remember. The puns are fun, but personal messages hit harder at Mile 21.

  • Pack fuel and layers. Boston weather is notoriously unpredictable. Gloves, sunscreen, snacks. You’ll be out there a while — be ready.

  • Don’t just cheer at the finish. Head to lesser-known spots along the course to give runners a lift when they least expect it — and need it most.


🏁 Want to Qualify for 2026? Here’s Where to Start:

  • Know your number. Boston qualifying times are strict — and getting faster. Visit baa.org to check your age-group BQ time, then aim to beat it by at least 5 minutes to be safe.

  • Pick the right race. Look for certified, flat, and fast courses with a history of producing BQs. Think: CIM, Indy Monumental, Grandma’s.

  • Train like it counts. Not just long runs, but tempo runs and race-pace efforts. Build mental toughness and physical consistency.

  • Fuel like a pro. Music is fuel, too. Build a playlist that mimics the rhythm of your stride — something to carry you when your legs start asking why.

  • Plan early. Most 2026 qualifiers will need to run their BQ between September 2024 and September 2025.
